yep its the philwinds concert today. had to wake up early to transport 2chimes and 2 bassdrums in the morning. the rehearsal only starts at 1, so andrea and christal went home to rest first while 41 and i decided to kill time by walking arnd.
went to hereen's 77th street to buy the skinny ties for section mates for noel in the end. its quite exp =X but i guess Christmas comes early for them =)
since it was abt time after that, 41 and i went back to city hall area. went down to raffles city basement to grab a bite and realised that the queue for the doughnut factory was really short so we decided to get some. it was only a 10min queue, since it was still rather early, unlike my previous exp where i queued for 2hrs with edwin=\
went for the rehearsal and 1, just practice zhaming on time and stuff. right arm got really tired out after that. when i shook my bottle of water, it just fell out of my grip - that was how tired out it was =\
given the rest of the 4-5 hrs free and easy. andrea got desperate for card games but conveniently forgot to bring cards. so 'we' decided to make makeshift cards. we went to the esplanade lib. saw the online catalouge computers. saw the slips of rough papers that were at each station that were meant for copying call numbers. go figure the rest =\
so we made makeshift cards, where andrea made the red cards, while the rest of us made the black ones. while the black ones were drawn with the symbols on the top left corner and the bottom right corner, the red cards had the symbols drawn on the other 2 corners. cheers mate. =\
yep so we interacted with jesse, who was the ny girls' snr currently studying in some music college. apparently, i can see where aiwen got her 'genes' from -.-. goodness she was TOTALLY LIKE aiwen. or shld i say its the other way round =\. played several rounds of cards and everyone got hooked onto 'tango' (andrea tang's lingo) which made christal cringe quite abit =\
so when times abt up, we changed.. (and i showered in that nice toilet in the performer's room lol) and went for dinner in some lounge. and thats where i got really pissed. when the delivery guy came in to deliver the dinner to the lounge, everyone went over to the table to see whats for dinner while he was unpacking. i happen to be the only one looking at the direction of the door where a security guard was standing and signaling. i look arnd to see who was he signaling to but apparently he got my attention only. so i just went up to him to see whats the matter. and he started reprimanding me for letting a random personnel (aka the delivery guy) into the backstage/perfomers' area. saying what he got no tag and stuff and even asked me rhetorically to show him the delivery guys tag. i tried to explain to him that i wasnt in charge and if i shld get the in charge to talk to him. he retorted no and continued to spam me with crap. he even asked me for my name and held my nametag. "da xian is it? make sure you dont do it again" i was just stoning there, stunned. wtf? and earlier in the morning i got a fair share of unreasonable scolding from uncle chong the sch security guard and now another random scolding from the esplanade security guard?! wtf?
ate dinner. met up with the band ppl to pass them the tix. stoned for the first half cos 1812 overture, the song we are playing for, is the last song -.- some america borned korea was the featured piano soloist for the concert and was playing some piano concerto which i couldnt appreciate. after which she was requested for encore where she played flight of the bumblebee, nonchalently =\
finally played for 1812. we were suppose to stand up upon hearing the tambourine as the cue. supposedly the 2nd tambourine entrance. but everyone else stood up at the first entrance except my grp, which made it looked really awkward. anywayz, finally played the canon part we had to play. some girl went to play an extra beat though, making an extra canon :| my arm was already very numb and worn out after zhaming for rehearsals. the weakness of the arm including the sweaty palms made hitting the bassdrum really difficult. after every hit, my grip on the mallet will slip a few inches. quite scared it would fly off my hands and hit the audience in the stall lol. didnt really manage to surprise many ppl, perhaps only the ppl at the front seats of stall; cos the spotlight was constantly on us though we were no playing -.-.
invited to the guests + performers' reception after the performance. apparently, as mr leng told us, its a buffet which costs $55 per head, fully sponsored by some rich person, hence must eat more. it turned out not to be the usual buffet thing. its SUPER high end. like those that we see in the movies where waiters serving finger food to guests at a ball. felt really honoured lol.
yep great exp =)

spent the past 2 days going out with lz, shopping for his grad nite suit and just walking arnd
met lawrence siao coincidentally at Herren on the first day while we made an arranged apptment with him on the 2nd day
mr siao revealed that the SYF central judging for display band will be held in the former chinese high school's field. the organizers debated for quite a while on the possible venue for next yr's event and finally settled on the school's field. that is totally awesome. this wld definitely promote the band scene in the school. i mean, the field is often just used for ad hoc PE lessons and on a larger scale for organising inter-sch scoccer comp. by holding the SYF in the school next yr, even the least-concerned student wldnt mind dropping by the field to take a look. hopefully it will dispel any negative myths such as band=morning assembly and that band is really boring
have to work on PW tmr (today, whatever...).. on a sunday... quite some work to do...
and i am totally hating this coming Monday... im going to lose something(/one)...important...

finally, the first week of promos is over. despite the fact that there is still an impending bio paper on this coming monday, i have already sort of entered into 'post-promos mode/mood'.... i guess i can reward myself having having grued thru a 3hrs maths paper today =)
actually not just me, other ppl seem to have just switched off after today =\. went to KAP with jie lun, sheng heng and derek immediately after the paper and we just meng talk cock there. jie lun claimed to be called kiat lun somehow and he was meng stuffing really oily fries into his mouth subconciously as we talked.
then came back to school, met up with edwin who dragged me along for lunch with lz, jx and sean at BTP (OMG). afterwhich took another bus back to school to transfer to another bus and to transfers to yet another bus b4 getting home. good grief, all that travelling....
back to post-promo mode/mood. switched on my lappy finally after some abstainece these few days. somehow searched on rock bands and watched their MTVs and got quite hooked. somehow the emo but yet provoking style appeals to me, perhaps what they are singing about applies much to me as well....
Linkin Park - What I've Done
definitely a differsent style from the usual nu-metal of linkin park, this a more socially concious song, one of their best singles.
This song and the MTV is really thought provoking. though simple, the montage of pictures really send across a msg. for instance, the 'compare and contrast' effect that surfaced when pictures of a starving population is followed by a glutton eating a huge burger. also how a typical modern woman is concerned about her waist length vs a serverely skinny and starved man. the raise and fall of "leaders" such as Hitler and Saddam Hussein vs Groundbreakers such as Mother Theresa and Mohammad Ghandi. Children in America receiving edcation and "showing their love" for the nation by waving the country's flag vs children in war-torn countries "showing their love" by weilding weapons.
The other focus is more on magnifying the destrcution that Man has brought about to Nature, and Himself. the destrcution of wildlife, deforestation, harming his own race like how the Ku Klux Klan did.
The entire song is revolving around how "I" (Humans) making mistakes and finally realising and begining to repent ("what i've done"). the song is quite reproach-ive for it (bluntly speaking) shows just how screwed up and choatic the world is in terms of politics, soceity, environment, income inequality, war etc etc... but its not all doom and gloom. somewhere near the ending it suggests a new begining ("i start again"). then the graphics or Ultrasound scanning, blooming flower and toddlers surfaces to show new starts. kinda reminds me about the compre on James Lovelocks.... instead of repeatedly dwelling upon the fact that us, Mankind, have brought about so much destruction, we should really take on a more proactive role in solving these problems.
the world is really getting more and more complex. esp with the recent reports on how the junta in Myanmar is crushing down on pro-democrats, all that internal insecurity... when will we learn to put aside our differences and solve all these problems? a mass alien invasion which promises to conquer Earth and annihilate Man? even if that happens, the ideal situation is just.... too ideal...
Linkin Park - Numb
finding your true identity in this rapidly changing/moving world is getting harder by the days.. ppl are just weaving in and out of their lives without really realising their purposes and what they really want to do for their lives and for others.
i feel that this song also wants to illustrate how society and closed ones pressurize individuals to suit into the stereotypes and benchmarks of society. the ppl 'generated' these days are just conformists to soceity's perceptions. like the girl in the mtv, she obviously has the talent in drawing, but her efforts are not recognized, because the Arts are, sadly to say, put aside while the nation strives for rentless efforts to develop.
instead of emulating others or conforming to other people's expectations, we should seriously slow down and really think what we want to do. -"all i want to do is be more like me and be less like you"
Fort Minor_ Where'd you go
from fort minor, "Where'd You Go?" the tune won the best ringtone award in the 2006 MTV Video Music Award.
the song is generally quite emo for it describes the feeling of people being left behind, describes lonliness due to the negligiance of closed ones, more specifically abt lonliness experienced due to career-orientated family members. they interviewed a boy whose parents are divorced, a woman whos husband is heavily involved in his baseball career as well as a parent whose soldier son lost his life during his duties in Iraq. Its quite sad how some ppl just leave others in persuit in their own interests sometimes..
just a random one. kinda of sparked me off finding out the name of the song when i heard the chorus of the song being played during the Guinness Stout's world tour for pool thing.. quite ironic that the song is named "Remember the Name". lol.
the stunts performed are just like OMG. just goes to show that everyone is capable i guess =\ seems to be similar to Numb in terms of breaking free from soceity's sterotypes cos its a song descrbing a raper's feelings

finally some time to write down what i have been wanting to write for the past few days...
with the ending of the band farewell dinner, i cld feel the full weight of responsibility of being SL for the perc section falling with full force on my shoulders.. well not like as if b4 the farewell i didnt have to do anything wrt the sect as if theres still snr to run the section, but its just the official handing down that makes it seem so much more significant...
quite a few series of incidents happened since i was initially elected back in june. and im just dreading it. i just feel im not prepared being the SL (again). and i didnt even habour the thought of being SL unlike back in high school, perhaps one of the small reasons why i wanted to try running for majorship.
i just dont feel the merit of being the SL. i mean like, nobody cares abt SLs. their roles are like so insignificant, relatively speaking. everytime when ppl praise the band (if there is in the first place), its always abt how capable the majors are. and when jnrs talk abt my batch's yrs, it always abt how great the majors were and how they brought back glory to the band ya da ya da... its like SLs are just like crap. not like as if outdoors was possible without the rest of the members; the mace thrower always gets the attention. it hits me esp hard becos its not other section but the percussion sect. for other sect, the music each sect member plays is almost (not totally) the same. even if its diff, the instru is the same. but for perc, almost every member plays a diff instru. and for the diff instru, they play diff stuff. of course this is not including the diff steps for the formations. all these makes perc sect a very hard sect to run, esp for an outdoor band. it really took a toil on me.
of course that was the shefish and practical argument that i rose. what really discouraged me from being SL again is the absence of maintainence of the sect after we left. its really crappy to see the state of the sect after we left. and inevitably i always qns myself if i have not done enuf. then i wld rebut back saying i have seriously done alot, in comparision to my previous SLs. then it just leads me into this whirlpool of thoughts that eventually confuse myself. i dont know what to do. im lost. i didnt want to be SL again. i just dont know how to do it.
but here i am again, the SL. back in high school i dealt with jnrs who may still be immature, and given my 'superiority' in age and rank, i can easily teach them, give instructions or even scold them. though the ppl im working with now are , supposedly, more mature and hence there shld, supposedly, be lesser probs. but new challenges arises.
exactly becos they are of the same age as me, its hard to give them instructions becos each of us have our own mindset, and i am no long 'superior' in age. not to mention to scold them, which is absolutely not necessary or possible when they are my peers, not my jnrs.
and there is also practically no need to teach. who am i to teach them? im technically speaking not a percussionist. im just some pseudo timpani player. i cant help andrea nor bangky with mallets when i have trouble reading the treble clef. i cant show off moves on the drumset to christal or siyao when i have only played the drumset officially for a concert once in my entire 9 yrs of band history. the last time i crashed cymbals for a purpose was back in pri sch, so no need to tell jh what to do. of course theres melissa who is just newly exposed to percussion. and of course there is also the way more competent christal who knows much more abt basics, percussion in general, to teach melissa. christal has the depth and the breadth on percussion matters. thats the only reason why i wrote down only one name for the elections of perc SL when each member is entitled 2.
and i just dont have the courage to tell them that they have played wrongly in a certain way, becos i know, i cant do it myself. i dont want to hurt their dignity. perhaps its just my ego, but i dont like it when someone else of realtively less competency speaks of my playing in a negative tone.
of course, learning is a 2 way thing. i cant be expecting myself to assume the role of 'the teacher' all the time and want to be better than everyone else. being SL by right doesnt mean you have to be the god player or something. but there is just this conotation and this expectation that other ppl have on the SL. its this pressure that i cannot take. perhaps its just my ego too.
worse, andrea and christal, the SC and BM respectively, are under my SLship. this further dilutes the need of me being the SL. i mean its bad enough that i am not so called 'the best player' and i didnt fulfill the so-call criteria of an SL. with andrea being able to analyse scores way better than me and able to conduct better, there is no point for me to hold sectionals and not have a chance to practise myself. with christal being the BM, i would practically not be needed to relate all the administrative matters to the section. and christal didnt want to attend sectionals that day when everyone else was there. and what am i to do? tell the BM off when im JUST A FREAKING LOSER SL?
i am not the best player
i cant play better than my section mates
i cant take sectionals better than my section mates
i dont have to relate administrative info to the sect
i cant tell my sect mates off when they are incompetent in their playing
i cant point out the flaws of my EXCO sect mates cos im lower rank
what kind of SL is this?
i am no SL

not really much time to blog recently; starting to mug for promos =\ no lifer
but im kinda bored now so i shall
recently high sch perc sect just had their elections. i was kind of questioning the need of one and thinking its just for formalities. seriously. i mean its quite evident. even when i told 041 abt the section election stuff, he was like acting super excited and guessing that everyone else in the section except liang jun wld be the SL. including john and qihao who are totally out of band for eons already. and he concluded with a sarcastic remark that he is sure that liang jun wld not be the SL. retard.
it kind of brings back memories of how i was elected SL back then. i rmb it was quite a tough period of me as there were quite some power struggle things going arnd. i also rmb our section fought very hard to earn the sovereignty of the section by breaking free of the tradition of having the comm to choose a section's SL. i thought it was quite good cos we finally were offered suffrage and no longer 'disenfranchaised" just becos we aint comm members. Edward had the section go to the amphitheatre and we did our voting there. and how i was suppose to 'do a speech' after the announcement of results and how i totally bo-chap abt it. and the moment when edward passed down the pair of silver sticks to me. that reminds me again, i still have the pair of sticks with me.
thinking of it again, the pair of sticks bypassed the acting SL after me. wilson. i always thought he is never prepared to be the SL. and i was proven quite right. i always thought the pair of sticks shldnt be just passed down just becos the title is being transferred down. i do believe its a set of responsibilities being passed down. the badge is what you wear, the respect is what you earn. i think it really reflects a person incompetency when he is unable to gain the respect and trust of his senior. its like your father not wanting to recognize you for your abilities and wont trust you. i cldnt trust wilson to run the section. i explicitly told him, not until i recognize him as the SL, i will be the SL and that he will still have to report to me any major events and decision making issues, such as the recruitment of sec1s. he didnt. lose trust. and i told him to come look for me when he is finally ready to get the pair of sticks. he came once. i asked him to give me reasons why i should pass down to him. cldnt give concrete ans. i mean seriously, as far as i can see, the section hasnt made drastic improvement under his pseudo leadership, not like there are any to speak of in the first place. and his attendance has always been very sporadic. he has never scolded the section as if they dont deserve any. ok lah, he is a funny guy la, able to bring spirits up. but he cld have done more.
perhaps its selfish of me to do this - using what i have done during my term as a benchmark to label wilson. but seriously, to me, a perc SL, either he specialises in a perc instru, or he's a jack of all trades and is able to play all perc instrus to a satisfactory degree. and a perc SL has a more challenging role compared to other SLs due to the diversity in the section and the great diff in nature of instru as compared to other instrus of the band, making the section very secluded from the band. even if he cant do the above, he shld at least be able to relate to his subordinates and have regular attendance. nil.
i know this cant go on forever. i cant be the one overlooking section matters forever. i mean until now i still bu fang xin here and there and have to go back regularly to check on them. thats why im determined to pass down the sticks finally this time after the elections. and perhaps thats why i have been giving liang jun quite some stress becos i expect alot from him. and i do feel apologetic that i have to impose such stress on him; expecting him to emulate the good examples his previous SLs have exhibited and fulfill what they werent unable to bring out during their terms. i want to pass down the pair of sticks. i have college perc sect to look over now, and there are a set of reponsibilities and challenges i have to take up; and paradoxically, having supposedly mature and same aged subordinates doesnt make my life any easier. i have to pass down the sticks. and its more than just a pair of sticks. the passing down signifies the senior having the trust and respect in the junior in handling the responsibilities. and that greatly surpass having the SL title written in your superficial testimonial.
i await liang jun coming forth to ask that magical qns. and i dont want to wait for long. i have waited long enough to fang xin and pass down.

ppl use the com for many different purpose. to do work. to play. to chat. etc.
i finally can find myself some time to just sit down in front of my com to just listen to music. not switching on the music and doing something else in the background. just music and music. the sense of satisfaction is indescribable.
im not sure if other amateur musicians do that - just sit down to listen to music. or perhaps its just me. theres just this addiction to the music. as if its a drug; but this drug gives more than a short term satisfaction, it gives life. nothing beats doing this after a hectic week.
ya i know im just rantling over the same point. just want to post for no apparent reason.
ps: im pissed off by band right now

have been sooooo busy as of late that i couldnt have time to blog. shortly after my return from USA, i had to mug for the remaining 2 weeks for blocks. after the jun 'hols' then kena spam by blocks. after blocks still have to work for the BBI presentation that i got pulled into. and CenTaD project meetings to attend to. and high school string orc concert practice to attend. and the USA post trip vid to work on..christal's perc ensem concert to watch.. busy busy busy....
well at least the busy chain is broken for now. blocks is over and so far so good for the results, no 'U's yet. BBI didnt manage to get any award but just a cert.
11/07/07
String Orc concert was quite fun cos the aust boys choir was fantastic. i kinda screwed up my part for the hallelujah chorus. then when the audience shouted for encore, the conductor decided to do hallelujah chorus AGAIN! i cringed. and i screwed up the 2nd time for that song. haha. the chance to play with the strings was the first in my life and i would say its quite an exp for me. cos strings style diff from wind bands. so the scores we got are quite diff from our daily scores. i have to play a super low D for this concert when the lowest i have ever played is at most an Eb. and the highest note is also only a high D. so the range is quite diff. also i have things like have to play 5 diff notes in 1 SAME BAR, of which 4 of the 5 diff notes are in semi-quaver. imagine that on the timpani. so its quite challenging i would say. at the end of the concert, i saw weiyang. i was quite surprised, to think that he would attend the high sch's string orc's concert. but i quickly recalled that melissa said she would be going for the concert too cos her bro is in the high school SO, and therefore it is NO WONDER weiyang is there too. *cough* *hint*. and true enuf, melissa came up to the stage to give us roses right after weiyang approached us. haha. and my leather shoes' soles finally gave way while i was walking my way home. thank god it didnt go off during the concert.
08/07/07
Christal's concert was very amusing. LARGELY due to dennis sim =\ it wasnt the conventional concert or perc ensemb stuff. they did quite alot of other stuff as well like garbage music and weird balloon music and crappy beatboxing nonsense. well, at the beginning it was just all display of skills and wow-ness stuff. there was this guy who played the snare with lots of unusual rythmn and this japanese guest player who is TOTALLY FREAKING GOD-LIKE OWNAGE on the mallets. double sticks on BOTH HANDS and controlling each stick INDEPENDENTLY. really impressive. the next half was more exciting as they did more audience engaging stuff. of which one item involves all the girls of the ensemb to make 'music' with balloons, by rubbing on different spots, using diff intensity of strength to rub, using diff part of the hands to rub, hitting the balloon, letting air out of the balloon at diff aperture size, popping the balloon with hairpins (hence explaining why girls played the piece) etc.. and when its the boys turn, they performed an item totally have no physical linkage to percussion. the emcee introduced the item as one that requires a 'very self confident rock-n-roll air drummer' and we all anticipated dennis sim's grand appearance for that cos he has been acting really crazy for the entire concert doing silly moves and stuff. so apparently dennis sim just sat down on the drum set stool, with a pair of drum sticks (thats all, no drums whatsoever) and wore a totally retarded wig to show that he is some 70-80s rock-n-roll drummer. then on the side are the other 4 guys from the ensemb with mikes. so apprently, the 4 'choir-boys' just beatbox while dennis sim air-drum. it was totally hilarious when dennis sim maintained his retarded cramped up broad smile thru out the entire air drumming and when they did free stlye on the air-drumset, like kena fits like that. and the sound effect for the DJ disc (wiggi wiggi!) and the ride cymbal (ting ting ting ting..... at some retarded high pitch)was totally freakin funny. and of course dennis sim acted really silly thruout the entire concert, and as usual wearing his tight pants. i mean like, dancing across the stage while playing the instru, isnt that totally like jh and 041??? totally like what they did for cappriccio. and at the end of the concert when we met up with him he just must keep his hype and so remained so high that he continued to behave weirdly and speak gibberish when i shook his hand. and he ended off with, 'you guys rock!!' and gave that funny hand symbol. i totally had a shock. thats dennis sim???? the guy that high school boys pissed off??? so unexpected.
13/07/07
yesterday i went back to high school in anticipation that they will be doing outdoors, but when i got to the field there seem to be some football game going on. when i got to salt, i realised their order for new furniture finally arrived and they are finally unpacking the boxes and packing the band room up.
and it also was edwin's bday yesterday (double prime number birthday!!) i guess the 'friday the 13th' superstition didnt affect him cos he was so hyped up ytd. i didnt manage to do up anything fantastic for him cos it had been such a hectic week. actually i tried to last weekend, i swore i even asked other ppl for suggestions for bday gift for a brother last weekend. ah wells....i suppose a gift will do bah.
oh oh oh!! and im so glad i was selected to represent sch for the national econs and fund management quiz!! it was quite random but i accepted the offer nonetheless! im so excited!
14/07/07
eventually, i made the entire section turn up for the awards day ceremony thing, reasoning that since its a band stuff so everyone has to turn up regardless of the fact that we essentially only need 3 players. i got attituded for making the entire section to turn up when arrive whcih shocked me quite a bit. it started out with andrea glaring at me scarily and finally she blurted 'whats your problem, making the entire section come?' and it totally shocked me. well but it turned out that she was just concerned over the fact that the boys (who participated in the SO concert, except 041) could have rest at home but all of us have to turn up becos of my instructions in the end. false alarm. but it was quite a waste of my time cos i just ended up holding the score for jh and didnt play any instru -.-
then i rushed for the appt with my jnrs who wanted to watch harry potter. 041 decided to tag along since its in the west. at first, they all said they would what, go have lunch together lah, then meet me at the cinema when i finsih my sch stuff. eventually, everyone was late and we missed the 3.45pm show. and zhengyu who was there earlier than us bought the 5pm tix which i totally cannot make it cos i have another appt at 6 with cheng yi and the steamboat dinner. in the end, i had to forfeit it and they got jiasheng to take over. though i met jiasheng while i was on my way out of the complex, iwas told that he didnt turn up eventually. curious.
haha then i met up with hong wei, ying han and cheng yi. we had steamboat and we just talked cock thruout and it was so fun. never felt so happy for such a long time already. ying han was just meng eating while cheng yi was sharing with us all his exp in his current JC, ACSI. and he talked abt how he survived a near death exp at his new CCA-sailing, how his classmates and him went to China for OCIP and instead of helping ppl they screwed their lives up by making the painting of the staircase a mess and painting the gate halfway and left it halfdone when they came back to s'pore. haha it was totally hilarious as we exchange stories of now, and immerse in the nostalgia of the past. hong wei was just laughing uncontrollably thru out. i think we made so much noise we were like public nuisance and ppl were staring at us... but it was fun!! then we went to the arcade to play house of the dead 4. i have NEVER played that b4 cos i always thought it was diff and scary. well i warmed up with a game of crisis 4 first. then cheng yi insisted that i play dead4 with him. ok lor. it was quite fun la. but it was really really funny how i made a fool of myself. HAHA i was like unknowingly continuing to shoot the boss of the stage even when i lost my last life and the screen was counting down. and i even brought my gun closer to the screen to get a better shot and my face was really grimmed up with concentration, only to get disrupted when ying han pointed out to me that i died. HAHA it was SO UNGLAM. not bad for a beginer i suppose. we managed to kill the last 2nd stage's boss and i died almost instantenously at the beginning of the last stage. haha but it was really really fun and i thoroughly enjoyed myself.
they are planning to go over to chengyi's house at m'sia for a stayover during the long break during national day. till then, this amount of fun shld sustain bah!
wow, compressing 2 weeks main events into one blog post. what a summary.

tempo: moderato
041 shared with me jj's new zhu da, 杀手. jj is supposed to act as some crazy psychotic serial killer in this MTV. i quite like it, though im not quite sure why the weird theme of murder =\

its elections today. done something quite out of plan.
yesterday night, i had a msn conversation with snr yu tse. so i was just sharing with him my feelings abt elections, what happened during the last round of elections back in sec 3 (archived post, 17/08/05). and i also told him my decision of dropping my run today and he discussed with me abt it. cos of many factors la.
1. im a person who 要做就要做最好,不然不要做. so i felt there are better cadidates, so i thought it goes against my personality if i continue.
2. i dont want to overwhelm myself with too much committments and leave no time for myself. im lagging behind a little for the curriculum and i still have CenTaD project to look after. and my PW grp practically cant work without me (honest). and i still want to join the singapore photographic society and that means need to take time off for theory and practical sessions, and i also wanted to either pick up a percussion grade or a piano grade. with so many things in mind, 还是简单一点比较好...
3. more on the front, im afriad i cant take the stress of being qns tmr. cos i had the bad exp during interviews. cannot take stress of talking to masses 还当什么BM? actually not cannot speak to masses, i can, if only the mass is junior to me or that im an expert in the subject matter.
eventually, i went off to bed with my decision being more prone towards dropping than continuing the run.
then this morning, after trying many many many times, and trying many different conditions, my coin tosses say i shld run. then i was in a dilemma. until cindy sms me wishing me good luck and she supports me. then i told her abt my situation and she reminded me the results are not impt but having the guts to run is whats that count. its like, i suddenly rmb why i wanted to run for BM in the first place - i didnt want to repeat my mistake that i committed in sec 3. yep so i ran, but it was in the afternoon so i had to wait for quite some time.
i asked the treasurer candidates 'what does 1cent mean to you?' and got several interesting replies. of course chin sengs reply was like the coolest. outstanding. 'unlike the rest of the candidates, 1cent means nothing to me. but 1 cent means alot to the band' woh!!
andrea did well for the students conductor run. she conducted omens of love and it was challenging cos her part got time change one. ah, but she did well.
jh was first up for QM run and he was speaking quite emo-ly. and the QM post vote result tied twice b4 the uppers decide to have 3 QMs instead.
then i received an sms from edwin. thought he was going ot wish me luck or something. bah but it turns out that he was asking me for favour again =\ not like i mind but it was quite disappointing.
oh ya christal and i ran for BM as well.
haha then percs went crazy with the release of results. drum roll, timpani roll, cymbal crashes, cymbal rings, gong resonnace haha.. actually mallet players shld play the F# Bb roll thing on the mallets when the name is announced (its the tone for correct answers in those silly taiwanese game shows). but when i suggested to andrea she was like "你够了!=P"
andrea got the SC post and christal got the BM post. the rest, heck care cos they are not perc =P. well though i didnt get the BM post, im not moved emotionally at all. i was totally, oh right. at least i ran. and im SL again. actually i didnt really want to be SL. cos i always felt that christal is more competent for the post cos shes more knowledgable with perc stuff and join the external perc thing thing. ya this is partly the reason why i ran for BM. so in other words, i had not thought of plans for the section or whatever yet.
maybe the nine-men revolution =)

yay its saturday. no reasons for yaying that its a saturaday. no, really!
went to sch early for the interview. kinda screwed it so i shant elaborate.
then when i came out of the interview room i was surprised seeing edwin sitting by the door, who claimed that he just ended his SMOPS and was waiting for his cousin to bring him out to raffles city. such coincidence, i had plans to go marina square after having lunch with my section.
so i took sectionals and went thru the emsemble pieces: 'stomping grounds' and 'sinister minister' sounds better by the day! =D during the course of taking the sectionals edwin kept asking me for lunch and i kept dragging cos i had to take sectionals. in the end he waited for 2 hrs and he kept harping over that fact and i kept feeling guilty... =(
so eventually the section, together with edwin and lionel (seriously no link) went for lunch together at BTM. then ai wen asked a rather provoking question. shant elaborate. then we dispatch from BTM where the section had to go back to sch for band prac and lionel went back to sch for duno what and edwin and I took bus to raffels city together.
somehow his cousin didnt manage to come to pick him up so i went along with him to raffles city. apparently his intentions of going raffles city with his cousin and his sis is to buy the doughnut factory's doughnuts for his family gathering during the later part of the day. and apparently, the store always have this darn long queue of customers, it has a rule where there is a 2 dozen quota for every customer. so instead of getting 3 x 24 = 72 doughnuts, in the end he can only get at most 24 doughnuts. since the quality was so well-known and i have never got a chance to try, and that edwin claimed that the CEO of the singapore branch is owned by his uncle who practised dentistry (yea the irony.... dentist and sinnfully sugar coated doughnuts....), i Q-ed with him lor... and that was like 2 hrs wait lor. luckily we had the nitendo DS. and i helped him get started off the elite 4 of pokemon diamond where he got repeatedly owned by the first of the elite 4 whos a bug type user. haha. with that headstart he pulled thru elite 4 by defeating the last with just 2 pokemone cos the others fainted and there are no revives lol. at least we didnt waste 2 hrs doing nothing =\
yepp. after seeing edwin off i had to finally rush off to do my shopping (yea with 2 boxes of doughnuts...) which was my initial intention.... reached home exhausted...
yay what a saturday!! =)

"love me, thats all i ask of you..."
finally, the long awaited phantom of the opera. bought the tix since last yr and finally watched it today.
shant add any spoilers, just a generic descrption: great blend of vocal, music, drama, romance, pyrotechnic and magic.
went with hong wei to watch. i kinda anticipated that he will wear a white top, so i decided to wear black top instead. and there isnt anything else that goes along with a black long sleeve than a black long pants, i wore that,: together with black shoes, black belt and black bag (the converse bag that 4K06 bought for me=) ) (ie, i was ALL BLACK.) and when i met him, to my surprise, not only was he wearing a white top, he was wearing ALL WHITE! wow! very matching!
oh and i met mr yeo, the ex conductor of tchs band, the one b4 limlh at the show. didnt really say hi. bet he wouldnt know who i am anyway. ahh.. i also met damien who was staring at some exhibitions along the underpass to the Esplanade. i wasnt really sure if it was him so i didnt say hi; it turned out to be him.
ahhh... what a $50 well spent...
lubs me dib dib thats all i ask of chiu.......

"the day we put ourselves into their shoes"
we had band exchange today with 4 other JCs, VJC, RJC, TJC, NYJC. and since we played host, that means we had to provide the perc instrus, which also means LOTS of movement and LOTS of hassle. we had to move all the way from SALT to college audi which was terribly tedious. luckily the 'harp movers' came and rendered assistance by helping us ferry heavy and bulky instru with their truck.
met alot of my old frens from MBS: Jit Rui from TJC, Huan Bin from RJC, Zhen Han from VJC and some flautist from NYJC. haha at least one from each band. Ms Wee was there with Leonard Tan (duh) and she felt rather nostalgic seeing us grow so big already..
HCJC went up first. we sounded bad. period.
lets talk abt moving back the instru instead. we didnt wait for the truck and moved the smaller instrus first. so since bangky and 041 had their shoes soaked with water due to the rain in the mornining, they have been walking BARE FOOTED for the whole day. and they claimed that they had put themselves in the shoes (see the irony?) of the banglah workers and experienced their lives. retards.... but it was quite funny when they behaved so childishly with the roller platform while walking barefooted so i took a few snapshots of them:
note their bare feet:

bangky's turn....

"OMG!!!" acclerating downhill...

obviously 041 is a lousy driver...

haha revival of childhood...
after helping to keep abit of the instru i rushed off to meet weely, shuliang and yi shan who are also going to fac outing. nothing very exciting during fac outing, just eating and stonning. heard artemis fac outing was way more entertaining =\
oh sean poh became fac prince.
tiring day but nonetheless quite fun

SUPER SUPER BORING PRAC. leng did sunrise for 1.30 hr (that means i did hw for 1.30hr). then after that he dispersed the band - woodwinds and brasses have their group-tionals. then percs were left to do their concert perc ensemble piece, which im totally not invovled in cos i will be going overseas during the concert period. yep, granted yet another 2hrs. i went to eat during the time. jh bo chap and went off. andrea as well. BORING.
had a short combine from 4.30 to 5. dismissed. omgly boring.
anywayz, i just came up with his secondary school bands SYF analysis:
Graph showing the no. of each awards in 2005 and 2007:
Graph showing progress of schools:
yay statistics.

PW session was yet another stonning session as the team dynamics of the group is still very weak. cant blame anyone, its a really screwed PW grp. and im made leader of the grp. wth.
some zoologist/volunteer/environmentalist came to speak to us abt animal abuse in science research and blahx during CT session. he claimed that singapore is the no.1 hub for illegal animal trades. amazing.
after CT session end i decided to go back to hcimb. happen to meet 041 on the way and asked him along. yea... its 041's bday. so we went back to hcimb and they were trying out new songs. well actually most are songs that we played for reves. the band looks kinda screwed. picture this: PRO and QM giving out scores instead of the librarian, underutilisation of labour in the section, 'SL' not present (as usual). whatever. oh and leslie attempted to play dancin' megahits on DRUMSET after i jokingly asked him to. wow im surprised he actually went to try. well it turned out quite a flop cos he pointed on notes of the DS score asking which note correspond to which part of the DS and pointed to the crash cymbal of the DS and ask if that is the hi-hat. sometimes i really wonder if its really the snrs who didnt teach them well enough, or the snrs never show good examples or what lor. theres just this big disparity.
to spare the agony of seeing the band struggling to attempt the new songs, 041 and i went to meet the rest of the section for dinner. yea we sang him bday song over dinner. after dinner the other 3 guys, as usual went to buy their susu (milk). i went back with the rest of the girls first cos i wanna meet the jnrs for at least a while b4 some boring band prac. i met edwin on the way in school and he tugged me to walk him to the bus stop. k lorz, so i walked my di over and watched him board the bus b4 running back for prac. im such a nice kor right? =D
yet another boring band prac. completed 2 bio tutorials during the prac. leng says timpani cannot be louder than tuba. damien the only tubist didnt turn up. and to be softer than tuba, i effectively didnt play at all. =\
SUPER boring.

never done so badly in school in my entire live before. everything now is either a fail or a just pass. seems like snr's so called 'myths' that subpasses and ungraded are the norm aint myths afterall...
feeling really lousy... feeling rather lost... and this is what college life appears to be for me. apparently nothing beats going back to high school band to see my jnrs, seeing how active and crazy they are; it just lifts my spirits. just seeing them makes me feel good sometimes. i wanted to drop by band room before going SALT for slacktionals, but to my disappointment there werent anyone... at least i met edwin along the way, the agony of my pathethic maths result faded, by a bit at least...
im just living day by day... no aspiration... just blindly aiming for the best of everything, and more often than not getting crap out of almost everything.
crap post.

hcimb's syf is over. they got a silver. it wasnt super-very surprisng actually, cos other schools which had their syf 2 days before them also did pretty badly. apparently as of now there are only 2 honours which is pretty crappy. and 4 honours band dropped to silver band this round. pretty much shocking. but i must admit they played well on the day itself and they performed better than during any of the pracs.
so my application for leave from school to watch hcimb's syf failed. i contemplated for quite some time before finally coming to a decision that i will miss sch and go for the syf instead. my form tcher kinda know abt my whereabouts on the day itself already cos it was her who helped me apply for leave to the vice principal then. anywayz, i felt it was necessary to explain to her my actions on the day and therefore it wrote a letter to her. a portion of it:
"This is to clarify any possible misconceptions arising from the absence from class on Wednesday (11/04/07).
Despite my efforts in attempting to get a legitimate excuse from the school to attend the secondary school bands’ SYF, it failed as an approval might generate a slippery slope where other students would want to be excused for similar reasons as well. I wish to explain why I ultimately attended the SYF despite not being approved of a leave for the day.
College life indicates yet another milestone of any student’s life. With its sharp difference from secondary schools, it is inevitable that an adaptation period is required before proper settling in the new environment is possible. If you would recall, I took a slightly longer period of time than anyone else before accepting the new environment. However, up till now, I am unable to pinpoint out my source of happiness in college. Since it is said that you find your own happiness and not wait for others to grant you, I turned back to the High School band – a place where I feel really happy to be in, a place where I experience more warmth than anywhere else in College.
A Band is a group of musicians who play music together. Perhaps it is this togetherness than forges a unique bond that goes beyond simple friendship and almost comes close to family ties. It is something that will be difficult for me to find again in college life. Just by the sheer stepping into the band room, I can sense welcome and warmth. I felt it is only fair that I return their favour of bringing me happiness by giving them my support through physical presence on the day of their competition itself. Though they did not reach their goal (or gold), the band in fact learnt more about themselves that day. Marks and awards are just superficial benchmarks to determine someone’s abilities. Though they did not play the music that wins the Gold with Honours, they played the music that binds. Even the toughest of the juniors ended up dropping tears after hearing the disappointing results. But it is through such sharing of such similar emotions that really binds us together. Perhaps it is this emotional attachment that attracts me back everytime.
I did not regret attending the SYF. Life is about making choices and not looking back. I came under the scrutiny of some friends who said that my application of leave would heighten the alertness of teachers on missing band members who therefore can no longer feign illness to skip school to attend the SYF. A few of my friends also manoeuvred their way through to have their attendance taken and gave others the impression that they were in school though they were at the SYF. I am not complaining that others attended the SYF and did not get caught by the school authorities for not attending school. Cliché as it may sound, I felt that one person should be responsible for his actions, and therefore I have already prepared myself to accept the consequences of my actions. Honestly I calculated the opportunity cost involved in making either choice of attending the SYF or school before I finally arrive at the decision. Since there would not be another of such event within these two years, I finally decided to go for the SYF instead of school, and I promised myself to catch up on what I missed out on that day and complete whichever piece of homework given out that day after the SYF."
anywayz.... the band had quite a bit of a hard time in accepting the reality initially. all the stress accumulation from SCH back to school. though mr siao already gave a BIG hint of "you all played well, but im sorry" at SCH, it still struck the band pretty badly when they finally hear the official results and learnt that they really didnt reach their gold (goal). mrs chan wanted the band to go back to school instead of staying at SCH to wait for results. while waiting for mr lim's call to confirm the official results, the whole band just sat down in silence. the atmosphere was very scary and nervous. 忐忑不安,坐立不安, thats how everyone was feeling. the phone call came. ms quah echoed out the results as she hear it from the official results through the phone. when it was announched that hcimb got silver, the air remained silent, just that it got deadiler and scarier. sounds of sniffing and snouting came along soon. mrs chan got emotional and broke down half way during her 'comfort speech'. though i was not directly invovled in the syf, a great urge of emotions swell in me and i felt rather terrible too. its just very unexplainable. mrs chan then got everyone to go home early and have a good rest. some went home, others ajourn to the outdoor band room to... just remain silent and stone? seniors start coming back to check the jnrs out. the majors came back, actually only 2. apparently the other one doesnt seem to care. whatever. anywayz, its just a scence that i never witness before lor, the whole band just getting emotional together. even the toughest and the most happy-go-lucky ppl also start crying... yiyi cried even before the release of the results. liang sai broke down pretty badly, edwin wept too.. jie xuan was just silent (omg jie xuan silent?? how rare!!) liang jun just started becoming very tardy and slow (<-- his way of expressing discontent and disatisfaction). the majors teared while giving their post syf speech. but it is through all these sharing of same emotion that the band become stronger. feeling as 1. but lunch seemed to recover much, they were all high and jumpy after lunch already. very fast recovery period eh.. perc section lunch was all abt crapping and laughing already. when we went back to the band room they were playing cards and crapping too. so glad that they didnt take it to heart so badly. throughout the entire course of the SYF, i keep going back to the band to watch the band, to visit the section. though we didnt get a gold, i do feel that the section has learnt alot, individually and as a section as a whole. the section finally got frank with glendon about their dissatisfaction with him and hopefully he will change. liang jun unleashed his potential during the period shown through his flexibility in switching instrumentation. and he played a style that i never get to witness in SALT centre and i was really impressed. the budding professionalism only exposed itself on the day of the competition as well. zhenyang also exhibited quick adaptability when he was told to join in the choice piece last minute-ly. zheng yu's playing during the comp also received several good comments from other ppl. leslie took a brave step out of his comfort zone of mallets and ventured into the bass drum etc part last minute-ly as well, very brave. hopefully wilson learnt something more abt managing the section during the period. keith is still a violent monkey. rick is being despised by leslie and is still too skinny. sean is being underutilised. (last 3 sentence were writen out of desperation). yep. its not the goal or the gold that matters but the process as well as the other things we get to learn from the silver that matters more. its not the music that wins, its the music that binds

i have been logging in and ended up staring at the blank input area and cant think of anything to pen down other than upsetting and depressing issues and hence log off. i kinda promised myself not to write down those certain forbidden issues and hence didnt.
someone from senior class whose not my angel have been sending me letters. for apparently he/she took note of the pathetic state i was in back then. i have also been responding back and apparently i wrote a 5 page long one back to him/her. actually its quite obvious who he/she is la... just dunno wanna write it out.. he/she somehow understands how i feel... i mean he/she is able to describe some of the feelings that i classify as cannot be described.. he/she is able to explain why im feeling so.. like hitting the nail on the head accurate liddat.. been really touched cos he/she have no obligations to do it. thanks for watching over me, my REAL angel.
hong wei called me early in the morning while i was still sleeping at class bench. he said he wanted to look for me, and i thought he needed some1 to talk to. in the end he came with his big plastic bag in which is a wrapped present! and he said its a bday gift from my good-est frens from 4k. so sweet!
love ya all!

i was really devastated. he called me 3 weeks ago at 3am, and it was a prank call and i wasnt even mad at him. and here he is, getting mad at me for calling him at 2am, finding some1 to talk to. he made me wait earlier on and he did not fulfil the promise to get back with me. at first i told myself not to blame him or get angry with him. until i received the sms. i practically broke down. i cried. i was thinking, first my best fren left and forgotten about me, and now the person who has been giving lots of emotional support these days is turning back on me. i really didnt know what to do.
i turned to hong wei. he stayed with me on the phone. he faces the same prob as me earlier on in his life, so i turned to him for advice. he was very supportive.. though it was 2am going to 3, he stayed with me. even when im just crying over the speaker, he just listened. in the end i felt pretty bad for holding him up and asked him to go to sleep.
i literally cried until 6am in front of my laptop. i stayed in front of my laptop and fell asleep, sporadically waking up to check if hes still online. though i told myself to try to forget, it only lasted me 30min, and i couldnt bring myself to doing something like this. he was online all the way till abt 6am+. i told myself that if hes online, theres still hope that at least he will pop up to say hi. but it never happened. empty anticipation as usual. and 2 of such happened in a row.
the next day which was this morning, sean called and asked me wassup. i dunno how to describe my emotion, angry? sad? so i just replied in a really jackass way, saying that if hes tired of helping me out he could have just told me instead of making me wait like an idiot and being asked if im crazy. indeed, i was really going crazy. best fren left, pillar of support turn his back against me, whats next? and i hang up the call the moment im done saying the entire string of jackass reply. he smsed back innocently saying hes very confused and didnt know what i was talking abt. after several more smses, he claimed that his brother was the one who hang up the calls previously and sent that sms. regardless who sent it, the damage was done. that night was the lowest point in my entire life. i felt really helpless. but he claimed it was his brother's doings, and i chose to believe him, for i get angry with him, i just lose yet another fren.
yet another rainy day. i locked myself up for the rest of the day in my room, literally and psychologically. i was promised a sunny day some days b4, but yet it ended up being a rainy day as usual. rain is becoming a very memorable thing, dunno if its good or bad, since the last thing i did with him was to walk in the rain. good in the sense that i can hui wei the good times, bad in the sense that i wouldnt be able to forgot him this way.
i give up.

i have been too depressed to on my laptop on some days, not to mention blogging. i am STILL feeling upset though, but i thought i shld just jot this down too.
i feel like i have been a totally changed person ever since the class posting is out. change for the worse. not exactly becos of the bad posting, its just..... links to alot of other stories i dont wish to mention.
wei yang, sean and xiao da has been a great source of emtional support these days, listening to my woes and keeping me company when im lonely. im really thankful of them, without whom i will just still be lonely... i have decided, like what sean and xiao da told me, you find your own happiness. and im going to do that. im not going to bother anything else about him anymore unless it concerns me. im not going to constantly see if he needs my help. im not going to anticipate anything from him. im going to stop taking initiative. im going to stop giving. i realise these are the things i always do and hence make myself really sad. it stops here.

had a really bad day. maybe becos i stressed over the class posting issue too much, when i got posted into a class i didnt want, i soon developed a bad headache and became breathless in the afternoon. i see no place for me in the class. the guys of the class are like stragners who form cliques among themselves le. and im not joking about changing class.
im starting not to like the new environment. no one seemed to care abt my condition. eventually, the councillors brought me to the sick bay. say im jealous, i dont care: abt 20 min later, a PRC girl who seem to be suffering from menstrual cramp was brought into the sick bay as well. some time later, her frens (PRCs) skipped lecture just to come to visit her and bring her back to the boarding school. and there i was, hoping some1 will visit me. and apparently, after the councillor sent me to the sick bay, no one followed up abt my condition. i was left to sleep. and i was sent in at abt 3 plus, and i was left alone. when i woke up, its 7. no one visited me. no one called me up. so ppl just walk away.. the room was so cold, though its so stuffy. and the admin ppl at the beginning was so calculative, saying that i can stay here only for 2 periods, 1 hr 40min. no one even came back to check if i 'overceeded' the 'time limit'. i just have to grapple my way out of sch and go home, BY MYSELF.
though i was in a dizzy state, i do know that choon boon who happen to walk by bothered to come in to take a look. and ppl who are not closely related to me like ai wen bothers to send me sms-es asking me to get well when im sick and asking me to cheer up when i was feeling really down. why if ppl who are not closely related can bother so much, close frens cant do the same? is it becos i expect too much? or others just dont bother. dont say they are unaware of the situation. im pretty sure that my exit from the hall was obvious enough for some ppl who are close to me, and he happens to be in the class beside. and im just a phone call away. stop giving excuses.
i received an sms at 6.40 plus, saying that he is going home already. unforunately i was still sleeping. when i read it at 7, i replied. and the reply i receive back was that hes gone already. i have always waited for him, and confirmed that if he doesnt want me to wait, i will leave. but there wasnt any confirmation at all this time. just.. walk out...
i begin to quetion my place in other ppl's life. i conclude that im just a tool - being manipulated arnd, used when needed, discarded aside when not used. ppl only look up for me when they need help. no one look up for me when i feel down, when i need help, when im sick. when i need company. when i feel lonely.
just when i most need your presence and company, you walk out on me... leaving me alone behind....

Saturday, January 06, 2007
i was outside and sean called me telling me that the class posting is out, making me wanting to get home asap. i thought it would only be released tmr evening or so...i was so excited and nervous but yet things just dont seem to go your way when you are excited...
on the way home, dad made me run errand for him, to bank in $. dratz
and the Q was darn long so have to wait. dratz
when i reach home finally, my laptop wouldnt start up. dratz
and when it finally start up, i kept typing in the wrong password to enter my account. dratz
finally, found my class posting. it turned out to be different from the other band ppl in the end.. sigh... but i found out that yi cheng is in the same class as me. im now just waiting for some1 else to reply. im glad that i land in apollo (80% sure), but im still left hanging in suspense if im in the same class as some1 else and if im in the same class as some ppl i dont wanna be associated with.
im in QK's grand junior class! and senghan's great-great grand junior class! its the perc 2 yrs chain thing! woo hoo! continue the legacy liang jun rick glendon! whatever..
usual stuff: loads of crappy academic talks, mass dance, cheer, songs, and games session
oh theres sex ed by some really crappy EC. its not really sex ed but more abt coping with relationship stuff, BGR stuff. crappy and highly egoistic EC, somewhat like LEEKS.... and i slept throughout the rest of the irrelevent ones. oh and leslie smsed me yet another of his sms when i was sleeping during one of the talks. he was complainting how uncooperative glendon was when he asked him to pump and tried to consult me for what he shld do. i have no idea how to reply. geez.
did the last mass dance today, the wild wild west one, the one the council did on the first day. butt jerk, whatever..jerks...
afterwhich band ppl pon the cheer and songs session and went back to SALT band room to witness the EP3 orientation. apparently our appearnace was totally shocking to everyone else present. as usual, last minute stuff.... lots of side-reading. wilson pushed "shrek dance party"'s drum set score to liang jun who side read it. obviously we all know what that means.... liang jun is definitely some1 i can rely on, some1 i can pass down to. but all those hierachy shit crap, but of course i have yet to tell them of my decision to open the SL-ship to all sec4s and 3s. somewhat closer to liang jun, he seems to be more open ever since his late sec2 yr. and he actually initiated a convo with me with regards to the section, and it really surprised me, never expect it to come from the cool him. of all the things i often foresee, i have not foreseen this one...
went back to college after like 10-20 min and proceeded with games. apparently my OG's games are all darn clean, physically and mentally. nothing dirty one, in both sense. no mud, no water, no boys-pumping-over-girls-laying-down kinda things. good? bad? dunno...
after dismissal was OG dinner. went to KAP at first and of course it was flooded. then went to pizza hut at BTP and had a hard time co-ordinated the entire thing. eventually ordered enuf for 23 ppl of which every1 paid $8.50. and of i zuo zhuang again, had to withdraw $200 to pay first. and when we ended dinner we all just sit arnd crapping and talking cock. and of course i contributed loads of cold jokes compiled from 2L+4K+BSP. everyone was trying to kill me due to my jokes. come on... it they who have a low tolerance for cold jokes..... took cab with claire the OGL home and she shared alot with me... abt JC life.. CTs... how to survive lectures.... how scary and ill-famed choon boon is etc....
ah.. OG orientation over... i realise i have been very, upfront for this particular orientation. though im not the OG rep, i often led cheers, get things organized, get the OG moving etc. im just trying not to repeat the same mistake i made in high school. i realise i was too passive back in high school, and im deciding to change it. no doubt i only score 1/37 as Extrovert and 36/37 as Introvert for the MBTI questionaire, i realise i do show the high and crazy leader type of personality when i have to. i do rmb ms cheong was telling us somewhen in sec3 during a lunch meeting with her to fight for the highest posts in our respective CCAs in JC as it enhances the portfolio greatly. i told her how i left the elections speech thingy back in sec3, giving the excuse that my project had a situation and i have to tend to it. i forfeited the election speech cos i already gave up on the politics already back then... but ms chong said having high posts in high schis not as impt as having them in JC, and she strongly encouraged me to run for DM in JC. not like i didnt want to run for it in high school, its just that... nvm....
i think i will change my over-passive ways and heed ms cheong's advice.
i THINK.... i mean, looking at the situation of band ppl going to join the college band next yr, all the major political roles will most prob be' mindset-ed' and bestowed upon the experienced
ones from sec sch already.
maybe i shld join the council for my leadership portfolio.
then again.... blahx.....
praying hard for a good CT and to be in the same CT as cetain person/ppl and not to be in the same CT as certain person/ppl...... and hope to be in apollo......

scammed. by ernest. he convinced me that everyone else will follow the suit and pon the earlier part of the not relevent talks and hence i followed him. so cheongee ernest and i went into band room together the moment we reached school and from then on we slacked in there. sleep to be precise. from 8 to 10.
woke up and went over to high school with the rest of the band ppl for lunch. met several juniors there and realised that they were rather desperate in the EP3 orientation thing that is happening tmr. the booklet was crappily done: cover suks, entire booklet only has 1 pic and thats the outdoor chingay one -- doesnt depict the fact that we do indoors and outdoors (sec1s get freaked out by 'physical' exertion ya know....), too darn wordy, limlh's credentials is so in-credible (not credible), vocab used are too.... shallow? (shld have gotten some1 like leslie or jiasheng to write or something.. their vocab is vast...), words not formatted properly. cant find the banner we painstakenly painted 2 yrs ago. last minute job. good going tiger. honestly this yr is going to be a tough year, i dont see credibility in this yr's band. whatever, toccata on.
back to orientation. did mass dance again. did 3 yesterday and did only 1 today, but the one did today is darn long and the councillors, in an attempt to perk us up, keep convincing us "a little bit more". i purposely asked the same girl who i danced with yesterday so that i would feel more comfortable... and did cheers and sing songs (again)
played games as well. unusal for my OG, all the games we played so far today are clean, both physically and.... eh.. mentally? compared to other grps who have to get muddy and.. do pelvic thrusts with carrots hanging down from your abdominal region to between your knees??? there are more to come tmr though. whatever, i have already brought all i need for changing and bathing anyway so get dirty for all i care.
went out for dinner with the band ppl after orientation. have been hanging out with band ppl during the entire orientation. in fact most of us are having the same subj combi. whats more we waited for each other to submit the option together in hopes that we will land into the same class liddat. but i doubt the chances.... but i will still pray it happens regardless... just felt that for as long as i have been in tchs band, our batch rocks and pwn the other batches. just speaking of experienced recruits we already have.. lets see... jh, khee xuan, jj, 041 and me who have pri sch exp. including all our pianists, we are a batch that seniors can let their minds off with. and we are very together, most if not all. like how we stuck together throughout the orientation, how we decided to either attend the talks or pon the talks together etc ><.. random fact: i have slightly more convos with tkb lately, maybe becos of the increased chances of meeting up. surprisingly the convos are rather spastic ones, for i never spastic with him b4, all i talk to him are usually just 工事. < /end random fact>
felt really great today, for what i hoped and waited and anticipated for happened. hopefully i induced a little bit of change in him. hope more will come! =)

self explainatory, no more words needed.
sucks.
ok perhaps it wasnt so bad. did really silly things for ice breakers. like sit-alternate-boy-girl-in-a-circle-and-pass-a-pokki-stick-with-your-mouths-only-and-bite-of-a-portion-after-passing game, shouting, cheering etc... the usual stuff... mass dance was quite alright, since its something of asthetical value and hence i support it. singing session... quite impress with the song which was supposedly composed by the council themselves.
tmr is wet and muddy games day. bringing extras to change out.
i lubs JC dib dib (im sure)
