tempo: presto

yep its the philwinds concert today. had to wake up early to transport 2chimes and 2 bassdrums in the morning. the rehearsal only starts at 1, so andrea and christal went home to rest first while 41 and i decided to kill time by walking arnd.

went to hereen's 77th street to buy the skinny ties for section mates for noel in the end. its quite exp =X but i guess Christmas comes early for them =)

since it was abt time after that, 41 and i went back to city hall area. went down to raffles city basement to grab a bite and realised that the queue for the doughnut factory was really short so we decided to get some. it was only a 10min queue, since it was still rather early, unlike my previous exp where i queued for 2hrs with edwin=\

went for the rehearsal and 1, just practice zhaming on time and stuff. right arm got really tired out after that. when i shook my bottle of water, it just fell out of my grip - that was how tired out it was =\

given the rest of the 4-5 hrs free and easy. andrea got desperate for card games but conveniently forgot to bring cards. so 'we' decided to make makeshift cards. we went to the esplanade lib. saw the online catalouge computers. saw the slips of rough papers that were at each station that were meant for copying call numbers. go figure the rest =\

so we made makeshift cards, where andrea made the red cards, while the rest of us made the black ones. while the black ones were drawn with the symbols on the top left corner and the bottom right corner, the red cards had the symbols drawn on the other 2 corners. cheers mate. =\

yep so we interacted with jesse, who was the ny girls' snr currently studying in some music college. apparently, i can see where aiwen got her 'genes' from -.-. goodness she was TOTALLY LIKE aiwen. or shld i say its the other way round =\. played several rounds of cards and everyone got hooked onto 'tango' (andrea tang's lingo) which made christal cringe quite abit =\

so when times abt up, we changed.. (and i showered in that nice toilet in the performer's room lol) and went for dinner in some lounge. and thats where i got really pissed. when the delivery guy came in to deliver the dinner to the lounge, everyone went over to the table to see whats for dinner while he was unpacking. i happen to be the only one looking at the direction of the door where a security guard was standing and signaling. i look arnd to see who was he signaling to but apparently he got my attention only. so i just went up to him to see whats the matter. and he started reprimanding me for letting a random personnel (aka the delivery guy) into the backstage/perfomers' area. saying what he got no tag and stuff and even asked me rhetorically to show him the delivery guys tag. i tried to explain to him that i wasnt in charge and if i shld get the in charge to talk to him. he retorted no and continued to spam me with crap. he even asked me for my name and held my nametag. "da xian is it? make sure you dont do it again" i was just stoning there, stunned. wtf? and earlier in the morning i got a fair share of unreasonable scolding from uncle chong the sch security guard and now another random scolding from the esplanade security guard?! wtf?

ate dinner. met up with the band ppl to pass them the tix. stoned for the first half cos 1812 overture, the song we are playing for, is the last song -.- some america borned korea was the featured piano soloist for the concert and was playing some piano concerto which i couldnt appreciate. after which she was requested for encore where she played flight of the bumblebee, nonchalently =\

finally played for 1812. we were suppose to stand up upon hearing the tambourine as the cue. supposedly the 2nd tambourine entrance. but everyone else stood up at the first entrance except my grp, which made it looked really awkward. anywayz, finally played the canon part we had to play. some girl went to play an extra beat though, making an extra canon :| my arm was already very numb and worn out after zhaming for rehearsals. the weakness of the arm including the sweaty palms made hitting the bassdrum really difficult. after every hit, my grip on the mallet will slip a few inches. quite scared it would fly off my hands and hit the audience in the stall lol. didnt really manage to surprise many ppl, perhaps only the ppl at the front seats of stall; cos the spotlight was constantly on us though we were no playing -.-.

invited to the guests + performers' reception after the performance. apparently, as mr leng told us, its a buffet which costs $55 per head, fully sponsored by some rich person, hence must eat more. it turned out not to be the usual buffet thing. its SUPER high end. like those that we see in the movies where waiters serving finger food to guests at a ball. felt really honoured lol.

yep great exp =)
