Scherzando
i dunno, everyone says its a success, but i didnt really feel so. it was fun, no doubt, but i wouldnt say its called a success.
first of all, tickets logistics totally screwed up, as they claimed that there was a situation whereby theres more than a full house. ridiculous.
second, we did not utilise the time given to us b4 the concert itself. 1 hr spent on tunning by mr leng b4 flower fantasy. blame who, who knows? hence we did not manage to run thru jap graf and animation medley. screwed.
third, pracs for scherzando were almost total flops, at least to say for the section. for the entire 2 mths or so, there has only been 1 or 2 full attendences. and the next full attendence is the concert day itself. crap.
forth, the moving of the instrus were, as usual, disappointingly, done mostly by the seniors. most of the members ended off the day happily. i chose to scold the section at the end of the day. too bad it didnt have a happy ending, whos to blame? yes, pls blame the seniors, like what you ppl love to do sometimes. no initiative as usual. loading up i wasnt as pissed off. but when we were unloading the instrus back to sch, i was really boiling already. too bad it was raining, we have to be more careful and have to get wet. but the pampered section would rather laze arnd doing nothing. great disappointment on the sec 3s, not the first time im saying this. totally no initiative. no sense of urgency, dont bother to check out whats to be done and just go on with THEIR OWN LIVES. upon reaching wilson JUST HAVE TO go change instead of moving the instruments, giving the excuse that his pants is too tight. fine, but he chose to take a long time to change. JH was all wet from the rain. my tie got stained and i hurt my back. the seniors got all these while moving and we didnt bother abt our own needs and instead took care of the greater interest of moving the instrus. no doubt there were individuals who are hardworking and bothered enough, but this is a teamwork thing. 1 for all, all for 1.
i rounded off the scolding session asking wilson if he deserves the pair of metal sticks that is passed down from one generation of SL to the next. obviously he couldnt give me an answer. i decided to keep the stick until he comes to me and tell me he is ready. but judging from the prac after scherzando on thurs, it seems that my words fell on deaf ears. i think im going to change my statement and let anyone who from the current sec 2 to sec 3 who are ready to take on the section possess the pair of authoritative sticks. in other words, i dont want a useless SL. i dont care abt hierachy or whatever, i dont care if a current sec 2 becomes SL instead of the current sec3. i want ppl who can work and who will work. i will not choose an SL from the sec 3s just becos of the hierachy of levels and generation. i choose ppl who can work. and thats why i have never regconised wilson as the SL. and to think that i stop off at an NTUC while lugging 2 snare drum stands in the rain from CCAB to get the section chocolates for xmas, deserve it? i think not.
and i kept asking the girls from NY and the college ppl and ppl from other sections NOT TO move the instrus for them and just stand at the side and watch. its THEIR instrus and they are not putting in the effort. ppl from other sections, guest players, college players are putting in effort to move OUR instruments, but they are not as bothered. when i told them not to move, the girls and college ppl felt guilty, and said that they used the instrus as well and so they have the responsibility to move. i dunno if theres the same volume of guilt in them having other ppl to move for them. in fact every time i want to give the section a dressing down, ai wen the perc SL from college would keep persuading me not to. she gave them some instructions that clashes with mine and when she realises that she kept persuading me not to scold them and would take the blame and claim its her fault. she kept telling me not to scold them and take easy on them. i just dont understand why are other ppl so bothered abt them, their things, while they themselves are not.
i have been anticipating 31 Dec for official step down, hopping they will be ready by then to take over. but it doesnt seems so. im going to hold onto the pair of sticks until someone reliable enough comes to pick it up.
and i think that will take some time.
scherzando, a success? think about it.
